that last month of summer just flew by. i start school tomorrow which is so hard to believe. this has been an amazing summer - just what we all needed. late july we went back to see mike's family. the kids met their aunts, uncles and cousin and had just an amazing time. we also went and saw my grandma connie in pennsylvania which was so great. the kids were troupers for the flights, car rides, and family party that we attended (we had a big celebration for mike's dad's birthday).
after the east coast, we came back here and my parents came to visit for a weekend. we had a great time filling our time with as much fun stuff as we could. then the kids and i went to eureka for a week with them. i love going home to visit, it is such a vacation for me and the kids can't get enough of tractors, horses, berries, gardens and barns.
we came back to do the mt. tabor doggie dash. the kids ran with mike and molly, i did the 5k with tank (one of my new year's resolutions) under 35 minutes which i was pretty proud of. i also joined roller derby which is amazingly fun and hard.
we spend the rest of the month hiking, apple picking, enjoying time together and getting ready to go back to work. we spent labor day weekend hiking in hood river, taking a hike with my most favorite people in the world (kate, duane, marley and dharma) at mt. st. helens. i am looking forward to some great things this fall and mostly just fall weather (i already got some of my fall decorations out, much to mike's protest - he says fall doesn't start until sept. 21 - he is such a scientist).
